Creating a Scared Space

Setting the scene with the right tunes, vibes and energy can take your yoga and meditation practice to the next level! With just a few easy steps you can create a sacred space for your practice right from the comfort of your own home. See below for our favourite ways to create a juicy and soulful experience.

Summary of what you need

  • Candles

  • Music

  • Plants

  • Set location

  • Kundalini Yoga App

1. Light a Candle

The soft glow of a flickering candle is a beautiful way to set the atmosphere during your yoga or meditation practice. We recommend choosing soy, beeswax or coconut based as an eco-friendly option and avoiding candles with strong artificial scents. These Beeswax Candles or these Soy Tealight Candles are both unscented, budget and eco-friendly options. If you enjoy the scent of essential oils to take you deeper into your yoga experience these Crackling Wood Coconut Wax Candles infused with essential oils are beautiful.

2. Pop on some music

The right playlist does wonders to set the vibes for your yoga or meditation practice. Mantra, sound and music is a big part of Kundalini Yoga and what one of the main things that differentiates kundalini yoga from other styles of yoga. At Golden Yogi Online we have spent many years creating playlists to play alongside our classes for a deeply immersive experience. Some of our favourite artists include Snatam Kaur, Jai Jagdeesh, Gurunam Singh & Nirinjan Kaur.

See the Golden Yogi Online Spotify with playlists to play alongside classes, sadhana series and meditations.

3. Add some indoor plants

Plants not only add an aesthetic appeal but have scientifically proven benefits! A study by NASA found that having indoor plants in a room can increase air quality by removing toxins from the air! Other studies have found plants to have positive effects on our mental health and are associated with reduced stress, increased pain tolerance, and improved productivity. There’s an indoor plant for everyone, check out this article for some easy to grow suggestions.

4. Choose a spot - then stick to it!

We recommend choosing a spot for your yoga practice and sticking to it! This means you can tap into the spiritual energy that you develop each time you practice with ease. Whether that’s a particular spot in your lounge room or a dedicated room for your yoga practice, coming to the same place for each at-home class will allow you to drop into your practice that much quicker.

5. Find an online yoga class

It is easy to become distracted and unfocused when we don’t have a set container for our yoga practice. This is why we recommend following along an online yoga class no matter your level of experience. Golden Yogi Online includes classes ranging from 5 minutes - 75 minutes to suit all schedules. Simply pop on a class of your choice and be taken on a journey to experience your own infinite potential.
